After graduating in 1977, I always thought there would be time for college "some day".
I've been with Westar Energy since 1981 in the Purchasing Department working my way through the department into management. In 1984 I met my future husband at work. We married in 1985. Our daughter Claire was born in 1987 and our family was complete. In 1992 our company went through a merger and our jobs were transferred to Topeka, KS.
In 2003 “some day” came. I decided to enroll in college and get that degree I thought was out of reach. I’m proud to say that in May 2007 (30 years after our high school graduation) I walked across the stage to receive my Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
Our son graduated from Washburn University, where our daughter currently attends as a junior.
UPDATE 07-08-09
Getting ready to say "bon voyage" to our 21 year old daughter. She leaves 7-11 to begin her study abroad semester in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. She will be attending James Cook University. This will be the longest 4 1/2 months of my life. Gonna miss here terribly :) |
